Information on House Bills of Lading for imported and exported goods can submitted via Tradian

The Maldives Customs Service has said that all information on House Bills of Lading (HBL) for goods imported to or exported from the Maldives by sea can be submitted electronically through the “Tradian” portal.

In its announcement today, Customs stated that, under Chapter 3 of Part 9 of the Customs General Regulations, freight forwarders handling imports by sea and parties involved in exports must be registered with Customs as cargo agents.

Customs further emphasized that freight forwarders are required to submit House Bill of Lading details within the timeframe specified in Chapter 7 of Part 2 of the Regulations. Accordingly, the freight forwarder listed as consignee in the Master Bill of Lading must ensure that HBL information is submitted to Customs within the prescribed deadlines.

The announcement reiterated that all submissions can be made via the Tradian portal (Maldives National Single Window).

“Tradian”, a platform that links business owners and service provision agencies was launched on 3 September 2025.

The platform will facilitate a one-stop solution for all permits that need to be taken by any business to trade in the Maldives. It effectively links all relevant line Ministries and agencies under one portal, enabling timely and easy access to services. The portal is part of the Government’s aim of creating a more investor friendly market in the Maldives.

National Single Window Project is a partnership project of Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Tradenet Maldives Corporation, and similar agencies.
