Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, said that through Alibaba.com, access is available from the Maldives to markets of over 200 countries worldwide.

In a post made on X, the Minister said that many Maldivian entrepreneurs participated in consultations held with Alibaba.com, one of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms, in facilitating the complete results and opportunities of free trade.

Additionally, the Minister said that through this platform, access is available from the Maldives to markets of over 200 countries worldwide, which represents 40 million active buyers or purchasers.

“The fact that many interested parties have been identified and that they have agreed to work together in listing Maldivian products is a success that has been achieved,” Minister stated in his post.

The Minister said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that barriers to opening seller accounts on such platforms will be resolved.
