The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources conducted an important session at the Maldives-Sri Lanka Business Forum 2026, aimed at further strengthening the fisheries industry, one of the main pillars of the Maldivian economy, and increasing the value derived from the sector.

The session was delivered by Ms. Aishath Raukas, an official of the Ministry.

During the session, detailed information was shared on increasing value addition in fisheries products and strengthening supply chains within the fisheries industry, which remains a key pillar of the Maldivian economy. In addition, the presentation extensively highlighted opportunities for the sustainable development and expansion of the sector.
