448 people have registered for Alibaba’s workshop

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Business Centre Corporation (BCC), in collaboration with Alibaba.com, one of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms, opened registration for a workshop specifically designed for Maldivian businesspeople and those interested in e-commerce. By yesterday evening, a total of 448 participants had registered for the workshop.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, stated that within the first 24 hours of opening registration for this workshop, more than 155 participants had already registered.

In an earlier post on X, Minister Saeed mentioned that this workshop will be conducted online on the 16th of this month, and that this represents a great opportunity for Maldivian businesses to access international markets.

Information in this workshop will be shared by experts from Alibaba.com. The main objective of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for Maldivians who want to engage in online business to open seller accounts on Alibaba.com’s platform so they can sell their products online.

This is an opportunity that has emerged as part of efforts to fulfil President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enable Maldivians to open seller accounts on the world’s most widely used e-commerce platforms and to facilitate online business operations on these platforms.
