Over 155 entrepreneurs registered for Alibaba.com e-commerce workshop within 24 hours: Minister

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has announced that over 155 participants have registered within 24 hours for a workshop specifically designed for Maldivian entrepreneurs and those interested in e-commerce, organized by the Ministry of Economic Trade and Development and BCC in collaboration with Alibaba.com, one of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms.

In a post on X, Minister Saeed stated that over 155 Maldivian entrepreneurs have registered for this workshop within 24 hours, and that the registration deadline is until the evening of September 13th.

In an earlier post on X, Minister Saeed mentioned that this workshop will be conducted online on the 16th of this month, and that this represents a great opportunity for Maldivian businesses to access international markets.

Information in this workshop will be shared by experts from Alibaba.com. The main objective of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for Maldivians who want to engage in online business to open seller accounts on Alibaba.com’s platform so they can sell their products online.

This is an opportunity that has emerged as part of efforts to fulfil President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enable Maldivians to open seller accounts on the world’s most widely used e-commerce platforms and to facilitate online business operations on these platforms.
