The Maldives Ministry of Tourism and Environment has highlighted major opportunities in the country’s rapidly growing tourism sector during a webinar hosted in collaboration with the Embassy of Finland and Business Finland.
The Ministry highlighted that with over 65,000 beds across resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and tourist vessels, the Maldives welcomed more than two million visitors in 2024 and is targeting 2.3 million arrivals in 2025. Participants were also briefed on the investment prospects including luxury resorts, private islands, real-estate tourism, and emerging segments such as MICE, halal, cultural, and wellness tourism.
Backed by robust infrastructure, including five international airports, the world’s largest seaplane fleet, and a new Velana International Airport terminal, the Maldives offers 50-year leases, 100% foreign ownership, and attractive incentives in designated regions, positioning itself as a sustainable, future-ready destination for global investors.
