ECPI records 0.69% decline in November 2025

The Essential Commodities Price Index (ECPI) has recorded a decline in November 2025, offering households more purchasing power for their daily needs.

The ECPI for Male’ showed a positive month-on-month decrease of 0.69 percent in November compared to October 2025, according to the latest data from the Maldives Bureau of Statistics.

Food Prices Bring Household Savings

The food category, which represents the largest portion of household essential spending, delivered encouraging news with prices declining by 1.11 percent during the month. Residents benefited particularly from more affordable fruits, with prices dropping 4.50 percent, whole milk, dairy products, and eggs also became more accessible with a 0.80 percent price reduction.

Over the past year, vegetable prices have shown remarkable affordability, with costs 7.90 percent lower than November 2024 and 0.76 percent lower than October 2025, providing sustained savings for families preparing daily meals.

Stable Fuel Costs Support Household Budgets

Gas and other fuel prices remained stable throughout November, maintaining affordability for households. Compared to the previous year, fuel costs have become more economical, offering continued relief to families managing their energy expenses.
