25th Business Council Meeting Reviews Greater Malé Mobility Reforms

The 25th Business Council meeting was held today, chaired by Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed.

During the meeting, the Minister and Business Council members reviewed the latest developments in the land transport sector under the Greater Malé Transport and Mobility Office (GMTMO). A series of reforms under the Greater Malé Mobility Framework were also presented, aimed at delivering meaningful improvements to mobility across the Greater Malé Area.

The Minister noted that His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has placed urgent emphasis on addressing traffic congestion in the Greater Malé Area as a national priority. In line with this direction, the Greater Malé Area will be designated as a Registration Control Zone, with implementation to be carried out through a whole-of-government approach in close coordination with all relevant agencies to deliver sustainable and effective mobility solutions.
